Impact Project

Here we see the start of a new project. I had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of my Impact from the manufacturer and it finally made an appearance in the last part of 2004. I promptly stuffed the truck full of airplane parts and took it to Jeff Stevens who is now completing the assembly. ICARE / IKARUS - Saiplanes and Electrics has been instrumental in getting me setup with the New Plettenberg Xtra outrunner designed for F3A. It swings a smaller prop, the APC 18x12 E which I hope will solve a few concerns. I decided to try a new setup with this plane for a few reasons. Weight concerns, prop size and noise. Perhaps current draw as well.

Just got a couple shots from Jeff showing work in progress.

Just got home with the Impact this evening. It is February 19,2005 A big THANKYOU goes out to Jeff Stevens and Harry Ells for their help in building and technical help.

In case you are wondering why the spinner looks wrong, I'm still waiting for a suitable spinner.... Below are shots in daylight of the motor-speed controller compartment and a shot of the battery tray. Thunderpower batteries are my battery of choice. They did very well for me last year. I might even try a set of the new Pro Lite series that are due to hit the market this March of 2005.
